Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Nyerere national park
As early as 7:00am, your tour guide will pick you from your hotel in Dar es Salaam and drive you to Nyerere national park, the biggest game park in Tanzania. You will arrive in Nyerere in the afternoon, drive to your lodge / camp for check in and lunch. After some downtime, you will go for an evening boating safari on Rufiji River, Nyerere national park’s main lifeline. You will be able to see different waterbird species, hippos and crocodiles. Return to your lodge / camp for the night and dinner.
Day 2: Explore Nyerere national park
Today you explore Nyerere national park on a full day game drive experience. The vast park is home to a diverse wildlife including over 400 bird species and animals like lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, zebras, wildebeests, warthogs, waterbucks, bushbucks, sable antelope, dik-diks, hyenas, jackals, African wild dogs, mongoose, monkeys, baboons among many others, top this collection up with scenic Nyerere landscapes. Day 3: Transfer to Mikumi national park
Have an early breakfast and after transfer to Mikumi national park on a scenic drive through Uluguru Mountains. You will arrive later in the day, check in at your lodge / camp for dinner and an overnight.
Day 4: Explore Mikumi national park
Full day exploration of Mikumi national park. You will head out on a full day game drive exploration of one of the biggest parks in the South of Tanzania. While in Mikumi, expect to encounter buffalos, wildebeests, elephants, zebras, hippos, giraffes, lions, hyenas among many others.
Day 5-7: Transfer to Ruaha national park – Game drives
You will be transferred to yet another of Tanzania’s big national parks, Ruaha national park. After your breakfast, you will exit Mikumi national park for Ruaha national park where you will spend days 5 to 7. Explore this vast southern national park on rewarding game drives carried out at different times of the day to different areas around the park to maximize your wildlife sightings. Explore the remote landscapes of this vast park characterized by rock outcrops and open flat savannahs.
Expect to encounter lions, elephants, giraffes, hippos, zebras, buffalos, wild dogs, waterbucks, gazelles, leopards, crocodiles and more. Walking safaris are also available.
Day 8: Transfer to Udzungwa Mountains national park
Exit Ruaha national park after breakfast and transfer to Udzungwa Mountains national park. You will have lunch en-route and then arrive in Udzungwa later in the day. Check into your lodge / camp and have the rest of the day to yourself.
Day 9: Hiking – Udzungwa Mountains national park
Get your hiking boots / shoes on and take on the easy to hike Udzungwa mountains. After your breakfast, you will head out for a scenic day of hiking. Great scenic landscapes, come across interesting flora and you could also spot some primates while on your hike. Overnight and dinner back at the lodge / camp.
Day 10: End of Safari – Dar es Salaam
Take on your transfer back to Dar es Salaam for a drop off at the Julius Nyerere International airport to catch your flight back home.
