Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Nyerere national park
Early morning, your safari driver guide will pick you up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam and you start your journey to Nyerere national park. It will take you about 6 hours to arrive at Mtemere gate, the main entry gate to the park. You will be driven straight to your safari lodge for a delicious lunch, refreshments and some relaxation time. In the early evening, you will be driven to Rufiji River to go on an evening boat ride. As you sail along, expect to see crocodiles, hippos and lots of different water bird species. You will also be able to see some animals at the shores of the river like zebras, giraffes, buffalos among others. Return to your safari lodge for an overnight.
Day 2: Game drives in Nyerere national park
Today you will explore the vast wilderness of Nyerere national park on a full day game drive. You will be early for breakfast and then drive out into the wilderness with packed food for your picnic lunch in the wild. Nyerere is home to a rich wildlife and your game viewing experience will be memorable. You will encounter lots of buffalos, zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, hippos, lions, water-bucks, impalas, spotted hyenas, elephants, bushbucks, leopards and more. Later in the day, return to your safari lodge for a relaxing evening and overnight.
Day 3: End of Safari – Dar es Salaam
Optional activities for the early morning include a hot air balloon trip over Nyerere or a guided nature walk where you will get closer to the flora of Nyerere and the smaller wildlife. Return to your lodge for breakfast and check out and then drive back to Dar es Salaam. Drop off at the airport or back at your hotel.
