Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Nyerere national park
Early morning pickup from your hotel by your tour guide drive and you hit the road to South Tanzania driving to Nyerere national park. Arriving at your lodge in the afternoon, you will check in and enjoy your lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will go for a boat ride on the slow-moving Rufiji River where you will be able to see lots of hippos and crocodiles in the river and other animals at the river banks grazing, quenching their thirst or cooling their bodies. You will also see a number of water birds, commonly seen is the yellow billed stork among others. Return to your camp / lodge for the night.
Day 2: Game drives in Nyerere national park and transfer to Mikumi national park
Be up early for a pre-sunrise game drive in Nyerere national park for a chance to meet up with the parks’ predators and nocturnal species like the bushbabies and porcupines. Have your bush breakfast and then continue with a mid-morning game drive around Nyerere national park driving to different areas to maximize your wildlife sightings. Look out for lions, buffalos, wildebeests, zebras, elephants, different antelope species, hippos, wild dogs and more. You will break off to enjoy your picnic lunch.
Continue through to the North part of Nyerere and exit the park to Mikumi national park arriving later in the day. Check in at your camp / lodge for dinner and an overnight.
Day 3: Explore Mikumi national park
You will take on a full day game drive exploration of Mikumi national park. Or take on a half day game drive exploration and a guided walking safari. While in Mikumi national park, you will encounter buffalos, elephants, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, lions, hyenas, impalas, warthogs, gazelles and hundreds of bird species. Overnight back at your camp / lodge.
Day 4: Dar es Salaam – End of safari
After your breakfast, your tour drive guide will drive you back to Dar es Salaam. Marking the end of your 4-day safari.
