DETAILED ITINERARY SELOUS NYERERE, MIKUMI & MAASAI VILLAGE SAFARI
Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Nyerere national park
After your early morning breakfast at your hotel in Dar es Salaam, your safari guide will meet you and you embark on your 6-hour road trip to Nyerere national park. Entering the park through Mtemere gate, you will drive to your safari camp for check in and lunch. Relax for the rest of the afternoon and in the evening, you will go on a wildlife viewing boat safari on the mighty Rufiji River. Sightings will include water birds like the yellow billed storks, kingfishers, African fish eagle and animals like hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, waterbucks, buffalos and more. By sunset, you will back to your safari camp for an overnight.
Day 2: Full day game drive – Nyerere national park
Today you will spend the whole day out in Nyerere national park exploring its habitats on a full day game viewing expedition, starting with an early breakfast. Look out for the lions, giraffes, zebras, buffalos, hippos, wildebeests, different antelopes like impalas, elands, dik-diks, sable antelope, hyenas, jackals, leopards and a range of beautiful bird species. Enjoy the scenic landscapes of Nyerere as you have your picnic lunch and after continue with your safari game drive. You will return to the safari camp in the evening.
Day 3: Nyerere national park to Mikumi national park
Early rise and breakfast, check out and start your journey to Mikumi national park, one of the largest parks in Tanzania. It’s a long drive from Nyerere to Mikumi national park, therefore you will have lunch en-route and arriving Mikumi later in the day, you will check in at your safari camp, freshen up, have dinner and call it a day.
Day 4: Game drive – Mukumi national park
Start off your safari in Mikumu national park. With a pre-sunrise game drive for chances of spotting the lions, hyenas and leopards as they are a rare sighting during the hotter hours of the day. Watch the park come to life at the first ray of sunlight. After drive back to your safari camp for breakfast. Return to the park for a mid-morning game drive. Looking out for hippos, zebras, buffalos, elephants, wildebeests, impalas and on occasional times, the giraffes. Overnight back at your safari camp.
Day 5: Maasai Village and Departure
On the last day of your safari, you will go on an early morning visit to a Maasai village. For a true African cultural experience. Interact with the Maasai people and get to know more about their traditions and cultures. After your village visit, you will embark on your journey back the big city of Dar es Salaam. Here you will be dropped at the airport to catch your flight or at a hotel.
